Nancy and Joel Collamer decided to check out Bucks County, Pennsylvania by renting a home in an active 55+ community in Langhorne. After a year, they ended up loving it and purchasing a home in the same community. Bucks County has the best of both worlds--quaint towns and beautiful nature for outdoor activities. Nancy Collamer was born and raised in Freeport, NY. Some people think Freeport is a special place due to its waterfront restaurants and because New Years Eve legend Guy Lombardo lived there. But it is special to me because I was also born there. Nancy attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studied psychology.
Nancy’s career began at AT&T as a management trainee and she later landed in corporate human resources. She spent time home with their children, went back to school and got a masters in career development. She opened a small career coaching business and spent the first 15 years helping moms who wanted to work on a flexible basis. In 2010, she wrote a book titled Second-Act Careers and began to write/coach/speak about semi-retirement.
Nancy is still working on a flexible basis.
Today, she is:
Founder of MyLifestyleCareer.com;
Author of Second-Act Careers: 50+ ways to profit from your passion during semi-retirement;
She is a Blogger for both PBS NextAvenue and Forbes.com.
Nancy’s interests include walking, cooking, and reading.
Joel Collamer retired this year from a long career as a technology consultant in the insurance industry. He is currently attending a program to become a master naturalist and is teaching a class about farmstead cheese for the Delaware Valley University Learning in Retirement program.
