Rosemary Bointon and Ian Cole opted for the cosmopolitan, cultural, yet charming, city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is the largest city in Portugal and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is home to majestic cathedrals, colorful city landscapes, mild climate and friendly neighborhoods. Rosemary and Ian purchased a home on the outskirts of Lisbon, where it is less pricey and less congested than the city center. Rosemary Bointon was born and raised in Britain. She was born on the South Coast by the sea near Bournemouth. She went to primary school in Bournemouth (it meant an hour long daily bus journey). From there she attended Oxford University and eventually trained as a lawyer. She practiced law the majority of her employed life. She had a strong desire to travel and ended up living in 13 different countries. She contends it certainly made life as a lawyer a lot more interesting and fun.
Currently, Rosemary’s work life consists of writing and running her property business in Lisbon.
Her interests include writing - especially about longevity for which she has a blog www.longlifefunlife.com, learning languages (currently Portuguese). She also loves sailing and she and her husband have a boat but for various reasons we haven’t been able to sail it for the last couple of years. They sailed it from where they bought it in Canada to the Mediterranean. Its latest adventure was when it got struck by lightning on its way to a repair yard in Italy. She was very happy she was not on that trip.
Incidentally, Rosemary met her husband Ian Cole in Budapest, Hungary.
Ian hails from Colechester, England. He worked in London for many years as a stockbroker and then set up a new business in Eastern Europe with a partner. More recently, he has been trying to set up a renewable energy business in Croatia so he spends his time doing financial models and raising money for the projects.
