Barbara Dukette was born in Wyoming but was an Air Force brat who lived in many places. Her formative years were spent in Orlando, Florida where her dad was the chief meteorologist for a local TV station. She holds a BS in Geography from the University of Texas at Austin and has had various jobs over the years, most notably as a mother, court clerk, Welcome Wagon Lady and a middle school teacher of Earth Science and Math. She spent one semester teaching in Ecuador in 2015 and is currently retired.
