Perley-Ann Friedman

Perley-Ann Friedman was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. She has an MBA from Ottawa University and a doctorate from the Sprott School of Business of Carleton University, also in Ottawa. She worked in business systems consulting, was self-employed and specialized in testing enterprise systems. She is still handling short term contracts in the summer. Her interests include garbage art sculptures, painting cat faces on anything and everything and writing.
Perley Ann has written books in her professional field but in the last 10 or so years, she’s branched out to animal rescue related works. For example, ‘Volunteer Fundraising Simplified: How to raise money for a cause you love’ based on her experience volunteering at an animal rescue charity on Koh Lanta. She spent ten years researching fundraising and trying out everything to raise money to help rescue animals. She says it’s not difficult to help a charity, if you know how. She wrote this book because she wanted to inspire others to make a positive difference and feel great about their efforts.
Her recent book ‘Retired Way Out There: My evolving life on Koh Lanta, Thailand’ is the story of her decision to retire on a remote island. Her writings include her many trips to the island, her decision to retire there, get a home and her transition from a tourist to a local expat. There is also a chapter with helpful advice for those thinking about retiring abroad. She adds: “The book is interesting, fun, and full of the crazy situations that I got myself into, and out of.”
